Red Devils eye the King

Salford are set to swoop for Leeds prop King Vuniyayawa

The Fiji international arrived at the Rhinos from New Zealand Warriors on a one-year deal ahead of this season.

Vuniyayawa, 26, helped Leeds win 14-0 at Wigan on Wednesday and could make a 16th appearance for the club in the Super League clash at Wakefield on Monday.

Salford coach Richard Marshall is planning a squad rebuild ahead of his second season at the helm.

The Red Devils, who slipped to second-bottom after losing 42-14 at home to Catalans on Thursday, have already recruited Brisbane Broncos halfback Brodie Croft and Wigan hooker Amir Bourouh.

Hard-running Vuniyayawa, who is 6ft 2in tall, made five NRL appearances for the Warriors last year.

He played for Fiji against Papua New Guinea in 2018 and Samoa and the Kumuls again in 2019, and has his sights on next year’s World Cup.
