Reports: Beaumont to “ignore” salary cap restrictions

Leigh Centurions owner Derek Beaumont has revealed that the club have four major signings lined up, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The paper also reports that Beaumont is set to “ignore the salary cap restrictions” to continue bankrolling the team, who are bidding to give their Super League credentials a shot in the arm this weekend when they play Bradford.

The MEN also reports that Beaumont has written to a leading sports QC relating to the salary cap.

‘We will get back into Super League,’’ said Beaumont.

‘‘It is simply my job to put together the best team that is capable of taking us there and this is what we are doing.’

“People will see our commitment when the signings are revealed. We will get back into Super League. It is simply my job to put together the best team that is capable of taking us there and this is what we are doing.”
