Widnes retain Runciman for two more years

Widnes Vikings have confirmed that centre Charly Runciman has signed a new two-year deal which will see him remain at the club until at least the end of 2018, subject to meeting visa requirements.

Runciman signed for the Vikings in August 2015, and has made 19 appearances and scored 16 tries to date in Widnes colours.

Head coach Denis Betts said: “I am extremely pleased that Charly has decided to commit to us for the next two years, he has been a fantastic acquisition since he arrived at the end of last year.

“He helped us retain our place in Super League with his fantastic performances in the Super 8 Qualifiers.

“Charly took a chance and came over here, we both felt that it was the right decision and he has added massively to everything we do.

“We are looking forward to seeing him develop as an even better player over the next couple of years and I am really pleased he is going be spending some very strong formative years with Widnes Vikings.”

Runciman added: “I have enjoyed my time here at Widnes Vikings since arriving last year and I am excited about what is to come in the future here.

“To be part of a club that proving that it is moving forward is really exciting for me and my team mates.”
