RFL appoints Chris Brindley to their board

The RFL is delighted to announce it has appointed Chris Brindley as Non-Executive Director to the RFL Board.

Brindley is highly experienced in both business and sport having previously worked as Managing Director for NatWest, North of England and Scotland, as well as a National Sales Director within British Gas.

In his most recent role, he served as Managing Director of Metro Bank, which opened its doors to the public in 2010 and is already recognised as a top challenger Bank with its focus on the customer, delivering unparalleled levels of service & convenience.

Brindley also has strong experience of working within sport and is the current Chair of the County Sports Partnership, GreaterSport, having responsibility for grassroots sport throughout Greater Manchester. He is also a Non-Executive Chair of Total Swimming and Total Gymnastics, as well as a Non-Executive Director of the Manchester Football Association.

Commenting on Brindley’s appointment, RFL Chairman Brian Barwick, said: “I welcome Chris to the RFL Board. He has a wealth of financial, commercial and marketing experience which has won industry-wide recognition.

“He also has played a major role in community sport ‎and been recognised for his senior management skills. Chris is experienced, energetic and enthusiastic and I’m sure he will make his mark on the sport of Rugby League.”

Speaking about his appointment, Brindley said: “I am delighted to be joining the Board of the RFL. Rugby League is a fantastic sport that is appreciated by millions of people across the country. Last season was one of the best in the modern era and there is a real opportunity to build on what was an outstanding 2015.

“Rugby League is in a strong place and I look forward to working with fellow board members on the opportunities and challenges that face the sport in the coming years.”
