Rovers fullback Sio joins Newcastle

Newcastle Knights have confirmed the signing of Hull Kingston Rovers fullback Ken Sio on a two-year deal.

Sio, 26, has been the subject of a transfer scramble across both hemispheres after becoming available due to Hull KR’s relegation.

He becomes the latest player to leave the club following their drop to the Championship, with Terry Campese, Adam Walker and Iain Thornley among the departees.

“We are pleased to be able to add Ken to our group after he had two good seasons in the English Super League,” coach Nathan Brown said.

“While still only 26-years-old, he brings valuable experience to our squad having made his NRL debut at a young age.”

The futures of several Rovers players are yet to be confirmed. Josh Mantellato, Graeme Horne, Dane Tilse and Ryan Shaw are among those to have yet committed to the club.
