IN case you have been living under a rock recently, the Championship and League One will be one complete league from 2026.
The decision itself caused some consternation, particularly given the disparity between the top end of the second tier and the bottom end of the third tier.
However, few people actually know what the fixture list will entail – and whether financially stricken Featherstone Rovers or Salford Red Devils will be part of it.
League Express readers were asked in the latest paper poll whether the merger of the Championship and League One in 2026 will make them more or less likely to watch Championship matches.
Here are the results:
I already support a Championship or League One club and I will continue to do so – 44.35%
I am a Super League supporter and I take no interest in any rugby league below that level – 24.60%
I don’t support a Championship or League One club, but the merger makes it more likely that I will attend some matches – 19.35%
I have attended some matches in the Championship and League One but the new structure makes it less likely that I will attend Chamionshipp matches – 11.69%
