Matthew Russell has been named in Warrington’s squad to face Wigan Warriors this Friday, just two weeks after suffering a horrendous facial injury against Widnes Vikings.
Russell was forced to sit out last Thursday’s victory against Castleford due to the injury, which saw him lose some of his teeth after colliding with Widnes’ Macgraff Leuluai.
However, he has been included for the semi-final trip to the DW Stadium, which leaves boss Tony Smith with an interesting dilemma ahead of the game. Stefan Ratchford played full-back against the Tigers, with Gareth O’Brien and Richie Myler in the halves. If Russell does come into the squad, it will mean changes in key positions for the Wolves on Friday.
