RYAN CARR cut a dismayed figure as Castleford Tigers were thrashed 48-6 by local rivals Wakefield.
The Tigers were second best throughout, conceding 24 points in each half.
And head coach Carr revealed he wasn’t surprised by some of his players’ performances.
“It’s not surprised me about certain individuals. There’s a lot of learning going on for me and as a collective group,” Carr said.
“Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. I can’t say much more than that.
“I was always going to learn a lot this year about this group and our players and I’m definitely learning, put it that way.
“Certain individuals, when it got hard, gave up. I know who they are and they won’t continue, put it that way.
“I’ve said it many times before, we are very fortunate to do what we do for a living and I will address it in my own way.
“I didn’t see it coming. We prepared really well.”
The Tigers also suffered five injuries.
“We got three head knocks (including Tyler Dupree and Brock Greacen),” said Carr.
“Hoody (Liam Hood) felt a bit of pain in his neck and Darnell’s (Darnell McIntosh) groin had gone.
“Hoody got cleared by the specialists, he just played a lot longer than anticipated.”
