Hampshire set for Cas debut

Ryan Hampshire is set to make his competitive debut for Castleford on Sunday.

The Wigan loanee has yet to feature for the Tigers this year due to the form of fellow halfbacks Ben Roberts and Luke Gale and was the 19th man for their defeat to St Helens.

But with Roberts set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a foot injury at Langtree Park on Friday, Daryl Powell confirmed that Hampshire is expected to get his chance against Salford this weekend.

“Ryan Hampshire will pretty likely get an opportunity to show us what he’s about at halfback.

“We have a good squad for a reason. When you lost some of your high-quality players it’s difficult to absorb, but you saw what the team did without those players and we’ll have a week to prepare for a pretty good Salford side and look to get back to the winning side of stuff, which will be tough against them.”
