RYAN HAMPSHIRE has signed a deal with until the end of this season with Hull KR following a successful trial period.
He has been a free agent since his previous club Featherstone Rovers went into administration in December, but has featured for the Robins’ reserves twice in recent weeks.
The 31-year-old can cover anywhere along the backline and has most frequently appeared at fullback, where specialists Arthur Mourgue (pec) and Declan Murphy (knee) are currently sidelined.
Hull KR boss Willie Peters said: “Ryan has come into the group on trial and has impressed us with his professionalism and attitude in training.
“Ryan has earned this opportunity through training and his performances with the reserves and the way he’s applied himself since arriving at the club.
“He’s an experienced player who understands the game and can cover several key positions in the spine, which is important to us.”
Hampshire has had two spells with Wigan Warriors – contributing to three Super League-winning campaigns – and has also played for Leigh Centurions, hometown club Wakefield Trinity and Castleford Tigers.
