Saints coach Brown rubbishes rumours of NRL move

St Helens boss Nathan Brown has rubbished rumours linking him with a possible move back to the NRL with Wests Tigers next season.

Doubts have arisen over current Wests’ coach Mick Potters future with the club after the board refused to confirm an extension to his two-year contract last week.

But Australian Brown, whose St Helens side clinched the Super League Leaders Shield at the weekend despite an agonising 17-16 defeat at Huddersfield, looked flattered but bemused by the any suggestions of him returning home.

He said after the game at the John Smith’s Stadium:
“At the moment Mick Potter is the coach and no-one has ever been in contact with myself or my agent.

“To start with, I’m not the type to try and get jobs where coaches are in position.

“I’m working at St Helens with a really good bunch of guys and enjoying what I’m doing, so it’s really just speculation and I don’t know where it comes from.”
