Saints and Rhinos win again

St Helens and Leeds Rhinos sit jointly at the top of the First Utility Super League table tonight, as they both registered home wins.

Saints defeated Hull FC 34-22 at Langtree Park, while the Rhinos edged out Warrington Wolves 18-12 at Heeadingley.

Saints were 6-10 behind at half-time, with just one try by James Roby, but came storming back in the second half with five more trie from Roby, Sia Soliola, Jonny Lomax, Tommy Makinson and Luke Walsh, with Walsh landing five conversions.

Hull scored four tries from Joe Westerman, Richard Whiting, Gareth Ellis and Danny Houghton, with Ben Crooks landing three conversions in a game that commemorated Steve Prescott, who starred with both clubs during a great career.

The Rhinos held off a late comeback by the Wolves, with a try by Ben Westwood reducing the gap to six points four minutes from the end.

The Rhinos scored tries from Zak Hardaker (2) and Tom Briscoe, who touched down a candidate for the League Express Try of the Week. Kevin Sinfield added two goals, but suffered a leg injury before the end of the game.  Warrington scored an early try from Joel Monaghan, with both tries converted by Stefan Ratchford.
