Salford land forward duo

Salford have completed the signings of forwards Jansin Turgut and Adam Lawton.

The duo have linked up with Ian Watson’s squad for 2019 as the Red Devils look to bolster their pack ahead of the season.

Turgut joined the club on a short-term deal earlier this year following his release from Hull FC and did enough to convince the Red Devils he was worth another deal this year.

A Turkish international, the back-rower impressed at the Emerging Nations and has already linked up with the club for pre-season.

Meanwhile, Lawton has joined the club following a spell away from the professional game.

The 6’7 powerhouse burst onto the scene with Widnes in 2014 and scored nine tries in 15 games before moving to Australia to play for Redcliffe Dolphins.

“Signing Adam is really exciting for us here at Salford Red Devils,” Watson said.

“I’m really looking forward to working with him.

“Adam burst onto the Betfred Super League scene in devastating fashion a few years ago before a small spell in Australia.

“I believe in our team environment here at Salford we will see Adam back to his best. Adam adds something different to our current squad with his size and footballing ability. He will be a big asset to our squad for the 2019 season.”

On Turgut, Watson added: “Jansin is a young middle with Super League experience who when coming in at The Qualifiers stage last year showed glimpses of his versatility, ability & aggression.

“Jansin is also a former England Academy captain who possesses great potential and hopefully he can fulfil that potential here at Salford Red Devils. Jansin brings an extra level of competition to our squad & is determined to position himself as a starting player.”
