Salford lose appeal according to Marwan Koukash

Salford Red Devils owner Marwan Koukash has said that the club’s appeal into their six-point deduction has been unsuccessful.

The club had taken their quest to get the points deducted by the RFL to an independent tribunal, held in Manchester on Wednesday and Thursday.

Koukash had said that a result would come today (Thursday) at the earliest – but he took to social media early on Thursday morning to confirm that they have not been successful and they have failed to get any points back.

He simply tweeted on Thursday morning:

In light of the decision, an RFL spokesperson said: “The decision today from Sports Resolutions clearly shows that the RFL disciplinary process is robust and fair. It is of utmost importance that clubs adhere to the salary cap and that if they are found to have broken it they are held to account.”
