SALFORD RED DEVILS forward Shane Wright has joined St Helens on loan until the end of the 2025 Super League season.
With Saints already up to their limit on the overseas quota, Konrad Hurrell has now been de-registered, meaning the centre’s time at the Merseyside club has come to an end.
During his time with the Saints, Hurrell has won the 2022 League Leaders’ Shield, the 2022 Super League title, and the 2023 World Club Challenge.
With Wright joining St Helens on loan, the club has paid tribute to Salford director Paul King for his work in helping facilitate the deal.
Wright has been with Salford since the 2022 season, registering 61 appearances and scoring eight tries. In the 2024 campaign, he appeared in all but two matches as the Red Devils finished in fourth place, featuring in the Super League play-offs.
Upon making the move, Wright said: “I’m so excited to get to work with the boys. I’ve had some really great conversations with Wello [Paul Wellens] and I can’t wait to work with him and the fellow coaching staff.
“I know how prestigious a club that St.Helens is, so to come and join this team, I am truly buzzing about it.”
Head Coach Paul Wellens added: “Koni is such a larger-than-life character, one that we have loved being part of our club, and we truly thank him for his efforts as a Saint. We wish him, Bec, and the kids all the best with their next chapter when it comes.
“As for Shane, we are delighted to bring him into the Club on loan until the end of the season. I am more than certain he will add a lot to our team.”
