Salford to host both NRL Grand Finalists next week

Salford Red Devils have revealed that they will be hosting both NRL champions North Queensland and runners-up Brisbane Broncos in two different events at their stadium next week.

On Thursday 18th February at 10am, the Cowboys will take part in an opposed training session against the Red Devils – meaning Red Devils players and fans will have a chance to see Golden Boot winner Johnathan Thurston up close and personal.

Then on Friday, Brisbane will be the visitors to Salford as they do their Captain’s Run at the AJ Bell Stadium – with Wayne Bennett in attendance to prep his side for Saturday’s showdown against Wigan Warriors.

The club welcomed the Broncos ahead of their victory against Wigan last year too, and with both events confirmed as free for under-16s and taking place in the half-term holidays, Salford can expect plenty of fans in attendance.

Red Devils coach Ian Watson said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our squad to learn from some of the best rugby league players in the world. It’ll be a great experience for the whole team but especially for some of the younger squad members.”

Director of Rugby, Tim Sheens added: “It’s great that we’ve been able to organise these events here at the stadium. To have both teams from what is arguably one of the best, if not the best NRL Grand Final in history training here is fantastic.

“It’s a great chance for all fans of rugby league to come and witness these players in the flesh and see their skill.”
