HUNSLET will be hoping to create a little bit of history when they visit Salford on Sunday afternoon, as they aim to secure their first win against their hosts in almost 60 years.
But it won’t be an easy task for the side from Leeds against a Salford side that currently sits at the bottom of the Championship after two defeats in the opening rounds of the competition.
For their third game, Salford CEO Ryan Brierley (pictured) has taken several players on loan from Wigan Warriors, including Noah Hodkinson, Taylor Kerr, George O’Loughlin, Lukas Mason and Nathan Lowe, and the arrival of those young Wigan stars is likely to have a noticeable impact on the pitch.
Hunslet won’t be deterred, however, and despite their poor historical record against Salford they will be confident of breaking their duck since those far-off days in 1967 and they will be aided by the likely inclusion of halfback Dan Abram, who joined them from Swinton during the close season and now just needs to kick four goals to reach 500 for his career.
