Sam Tomkins to be given “every chance” of recovery ahead of Nou Camp clash

Steve McNamara says Catalans will give Sam Tomkins as long as possible to be fit for Saturday’s historic Nou Camp clash against old club Wigan.

The former Warriors fullback was pulled during the club’s Challenge Cup victory over Doncaster due to a back spasm.

It has left his position in the club’s game in Barcelona in doubt this weekend, but McNamara is hopeful he’ll be able to feature.

“Sam will give himself every chance,” McNamara said.

“He’s improving every day, he felt a spasm in the Doncaster game and we brought him off straight away.

“You all know Sam, he’s very professional. If he’s fit he’ll play and if he’s not we’ll have to find a different way.”

Ben Garcia is also close to fitness for Les Dracs.
