Wigan Warriors and England centre Dan Sarginson has revealed he is in a fitness race to be ready for the start of the new Super League season.
Sarginson has suffered a groin injury in training which has prevented him from taking part in pre-season so far, and whilst he admits he’s hopeful of being ready for the club’s opening game at Widnes, it is by no means a guarantee.
“I’m hoping to be fit for the start of the season. It’s not definite though, because it’s a step-by-step process,” Sarginson told local media in Wigan.
“Once I’m pain-free I can move on, but I hope to be ready for the start.
“It’s just a stress injury, so I’m resting up and getting plenty of physio. I’ve had a couple of injections into the pelvis to help the healing process.
“It’s all right, I’ve just got to take it step-by-step.”
