Shaun Wane not taking Dragons lightly

Wigan head coach Shaun Wane believes there is no point in writing the Catalan Dragons off ahead of their clash this weekend, despite their dismal start to the season.

The French outfit lost their first five games of the season, before finally ending that snap by beating Huddersfield last weekend.

That – combined with a gamely effort against St Helens the week before – was enough to assure Wane that they are still a force to be reckoned with.

“I know they had some losses at the start of the season but I always knew they would come good – and they’re certainly in form right now,” Wane said.

“People have been talking about who’s missing for them, but if you look at the players they’ve got, there’s a lot of quality there. They’ve kept the bulk of the squad from last season and they’ve added to that with some experience from the NRL.

“They had too many good players to keep struggling with their form.

“We’ve got confidence in ourselves, but we will be showing them some respect.”
