SHEFFIELD EAGLES have further strengthened their squad for 2026 with the signings of two more former Super League players.
The Eagles will once again compete in the National Championship, formerly known as the Northern Championship, but have stated their intent of improving on last season’s seventh-place finish after brining in numerous players with experience of playing at the top level.
Former York stars Ashleigh Hyde, Betty Lambert and Lisa Parker, who played for the Eagles prior to her move to the Valkyrie, have already joined the club, alongside former Huddersfield duo Tilly Davies and Frankie Townend.
The latest names to join them are Amy Boardman, who featured in Super League for Bradford Bulls, Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves, before joining Halifax, and forward Jess Panayiotou, who last season played 12 times for the Wolves.
Now Boardman is hoping to use her vast experience in the game to help push the Eagles forward.
“I’ll bring my experience in and will try to use that to help the girls as much as I can,” said Boardman.
“But I will still always take on board advice from coaches and try to push back towards the level I used to be at Super League.
“It’s exciting to pass my knowledge onto the girls, but also take some from them as well.
“There is a really good atmosphere here and everyone is pushing each other – we all want the best for each other for this season, which is really exciting.”
