Promising St Helens youngster Jack Ashworth, 19, has signed a three-year contract with the club.
A product of Rochdale’s Service Area Programme, he spent time at the Warrington Wolves before injury curtailed his scholarship.
Saints’ Academy Head Coach Derek Traynor said: “Jack has worked really hard since he has been at the club and we have high hopes for him.
“He is a big, tough and mobile player who is skilful too.
“Jack was at Rochdale and they recommended him to us. He has worked really hard and once he got into our 19s he never came back out.
“From where he started from he has done really well and it is a great achievement.
“This is where the partnership and dual registration works in ‘reverse’ for us. We probably wouldn’t have known about Jack if it didn’t exist and now we all hope he can go on and have a long career at Saints.”
