ST HELENS joint head coach Derek Hardman has praised the impact Paige Travis has had on the squad since her return from the NRLW.
England international Travis, who initially joined the club in 2019, spent last season with Parramatta Eels in Australia, making a total of 11 appearances before being released.
That paved the way for a return to the ‘Red V’ where she had tasted so much success in the past. Over he six years with Saints she was part of the squad that secured an historic treble in 2021. She also won three more Challenge Cup finals and lifted the League Leaders’ Shield again in 2024.
“Although Paige is one of our own, bringing her back this year will be a massive bonus for us,” said Hardman.
“She had options to go to several other clubs so it really is a massive signing for us.
“Paige’s power has always been how raw she is, she doesn’t care for reputations and she’s an unreal competitor.
“There’s not many girls who have had the chance to go out and sign with an NRLW contract and it’s something every girl in Super League would want to do. The deal Paige got was outstanding and she actually played in every game, even if it wasn’t for massive minutes.
“So that was a massive move for Paige but for whatever reason they didn’t want to renew her contract.
“She’s a larger than life character and being in that environment over there can only improve her. Parramatta’s loss is definitely Saints’ gain.”
