St Helens prop Mose Masoe has been linked with a return to the NRL less than a year after joining the Langtree Park club from Penrith Panthers.
The 25-year-old is, according to reports in Australia, seeking an early release from his contract so he can move to St George-Illawarra Dragons – where Gareth Widdop and Benji Marshall currently ply their trade.
The Samoan enjoyed an impressive debut season in Super League following a slow start due to injury. He contributed eight tries, including the one that killed off Catalans Dragons in their play-off semi final and sent St Helens into the Grand Final, and averaged well over eight metres per carry.
Off the field, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing for Masoe, who had his house burgled in September just 10 minutes after Saints’ round 26 clash with Warrington kicked off.
