Stats Zone: Challenge Cup semi-final special

Leeds Rhinos v Warrington Wolves – Saturday, 2:30pm KO
Leeds have not defeated Warrington in a Challenge Cup semi-final for over a century – since an 11-10 victory at Broughton in 1910. Warrington have won the last four meetings between the clubs at this stage since then.

Leeds are appearing in a record-equalling 45th Challenge Cup semi-final (shared with Wigan) on Saturday. The Rhinos have won 23 and lost 21 (a record) of their previous semi-finals.

Warrington are appearing in their 33rd Challenge Cup semi-final, having won 16 and lost 16 of their previous semi-finals.

Castleford Tigers v Widnes Vikings – Sunday, 3:00pm KO
Castleford are appearing in their 23rd Challenge Cup semi-final, having won 17 and lost 5 of their previous semi-finals.

Widnes are appearing in their 35th Challenge Cup semi-final, having won 21 and lost 13 of their previous semi-finals.

The last time the two sides met in a semi-final was way back in 1964 – and a replay was needed to split Widnes and Castleford on that occasion. After drawing 7-7 at Swinton in the initial game, Widnes won a replay 7-5 at Wakefield to progress to the final.
