LONDON BRONCOS coach Jason Demetriou has challenged his players to get better still as they prepare for two further games on the road ahead of their return to the Cherry Red Records Stadium.
The league leaders last played at the venue they share with AFC Wimbledon, and which they hope will be staging Super League rugby next year, in May, when they beat Midlands 64-0.
With pitch maintenance work taking place ahead of the new football season, the Broncos will have played eleven matches elsewhere by the time they tackle Goole on Sunday, August 9.
The last two of that sequence are at Midlands Hurricanes on Sunday and Widnes seven days later, with home games taken to Richmond Athletic Ground (against Doncaster in the 1895 Cup quarter-finals) and to the Kuflink Stadium in Gravesend (against Hunslet and Doncaster in the league).
Hunslet were beaten 78-16 and Doncaster 68-18 at the home of Ebbsfleet United Football Club, continuing the Broncos’ 100 percent Championship record which then reached 18 matches with last Sunday’s win at Salford.
However Demetriou insisted: “There are some tactical and technical issues we need to be better at.
“Sometimes when the scoreboard is going our way we seem to drop our standards a little.
“The challenge in the latest block of games has been to sharpen up in that area, and we’ll keep working on it.”
The Broncos have centres Robert Mathias and Alex Max and prop Epel Kapinias back from injuries, but the coach isn’t rushing them.
“They are all big players for us, and it’s great to have them available again,” he said of the former PNG Hunters trio.
“But they have been out a long time, and there’s no pressure on them.”
