Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane has described the tackle which injured one of his Academy players as a “shocker” – and says it is one of the worst he’s ever seen.
Sam Brady was injured during a reserve game against St Helens last month, after an incident involving St Helens’ Tony Suffolk.
Suffolk was banned for 10 games last year for a similar offence while playing for Rochdale – and was only given a five-match ban this time around by the RFL’s disciplinary panel.
But Wane said the tackle deserved a lengthier ban.
“Without a doubt, that kind of thing deserves more.
“And I know Mike (Rush) and Keiron (Cunningham) will be upset that one of their players has done that.
“It was awful, uncalled for, and I feel for Sam. It was a shocker.”
