Super League new boys Toulouse Olympique hit with long-term injury

TOULOUSE OLYMPIQUE hooker Calum Gahan will miss the opening rounds of Super League with a foot injury.

Gahan, who joined Toulouse ahead of the 2023 season, played just four games for the French side this year due to an Achilles injury.

With Toulouse earning promotion to Super League via an independent panel, Gahan is only set to return to the field in May.

The 28-year-old has scored five tries in 50 appearances for Sylvain Houles’ side and has since undergone surgery on a separate issue.

“I’m in my fifth week of rehabilitation now,” Gahan said.

“On matchday four, I ruptured my Achilles tendon. That’s why I didn’t play last year.

“(Now) I have another problem with the bone at the back of my foot, and to fix that I had to get surgery.

“That’s mainly why I’m not training with the guys right now, but I hope that this year, around May, I’ll be able to play again.”

Capped three times by Scotland, the 28-year-old began his career with Queensland Cup side Norths Devils, registering four tries in 38 appearances before first moving to the UK in 2022.

Gahan joined London Broncos where he scored another four tries in 12 appearances before being snapped up by Toulouse.
