After Castleford’s defeat against Catalan ensured St Helens would finish top of Super League 2014, the schedule for the first week of the play-offs has been confirmed.
Only Leeds knew their final position in the table heading into the weekend’s fixtures, and they will play a sudden death encounter against Catalan, with the loser knowing their season comes to an end early.
The same can also be said for Warrington and Widnes, with an incredible local derby the first of a double-header of play-off fixtures next Saturday.
As for the top four – who all get a second chance if they lose in week one – table-topping St Helens will host Castleford, the two teams who were in the mix for top spot going into the final weekend.
That game takes place on Friday, and is preceded by last year’s champions going up against last year’s leaders, as Wigan Warriors host Huddersfield.
