Tara Jane Stanley among five more York Valkyrie retentions

YORK VALKYRIE and England full-back Tara Jane Stanley is raring to go after over a year out of action due to injury.

The 32-year-old was forced to miss the whole of last season after undergoing surgery on an ACL injury sustained in September 2024, but always remained a part of the squad by working alongside the coaching staff as well as having a role on match days.

But she is nearing full fitness and will aim to regain her place in Leon Pryce’s squad after signing a new deal, which will keep her at the club until the end of the 2027 season.

“Heading into my fifth season at York, I’m buzzing to be back,” said Stanley.

“Being out last year with my ACL wasn’t easy, but the support from the fans, the girls, and the staff kept me going every single day.

“I’m coming back hungry, grateful, and ready to give everything this season.”

Stanley will be joined by four more members of last year’s squad with Jas Bell, Liv Wood, Tara Moxon and Izzy Bibby also signing new two-year deals.
