Thaler back in Super League action

Referee Ben Thaler has been promoted back to Super League after his surprise omission last week.

Thaler, widely regarded as one of the world’s best referees, was without a Super League game last week and instead officiated the Championship match between Bradford and Sheffield.

However, he is back in top-tier action this week having been allocated the televised game between Warrington and St Helens.

He made the news over a week ago when, whilst officiating Catalans’ home game against Castleford, he was seen deliberating with  Todd Carney over a decision that was sent upstairs to video referee Thierry Alibert.

James Child has been dropped from Super League action this week, instead taking charge of the game between Dewsbury and Bradford.
