This week’s Super League gamestars

If there’s one negative about the World Club Series, it is that our regular dose of Super League action is just a little smaller for one week.

But despite only seeing two games in the league on Sunday, we were somehow served up as much drama as there is in a full round of fixtures.

Wakefield and Salford came out on top this weekend, but which two players did our reporters pick as their gamestars from those games?

Hull KR vs Wakefield (Liam Finn)FinnLiam1-24-0116rl

After a poor start to the season, some had criticised Finn since his move from rivals Castleford.

However, he answered his critics with a fantastic display against Hull KR, setting up one try and converting three goals.

Yet it was his defensive work that earned him the gamestar award as he offered a colossal defensive effort that saw his team to victory.

Salford Red Devils vs Widnes Vikings (Tommy Lee)Lee Salford

The Salford captain put in a fine all-round display that was highlighted by a 40-20 just when Salford were on the rack.

That moment was also the game’s gamebreaker, as it totally defused Widnes’ momentum after almost completing a fabulous comeback, and instead it prompted a Mark Flanagan try that finally secured the victory.
