Castleford Tigers‘ prospects of moving into a new stadium came one step closer on Friday, with confirmation that the government will not be calling in the planning application for the Five Towns Park for a public inquiry.
It means the planning application submitted by the Lateral Property Group will go ahead, with the Council already having given its backing to the development.
“We welcome the Secretary of State’s decision not to ‘call-in’ the Five Towns Park planning application and to allow Wakefield Council’s decision to stand,” said Philip Lunn, Managing Director of the Lateral Property Group.
“This is a significant step towards the delivery of this development.
“I am sure that many people within the community will be delighted with this news. We expect to make further announcements soon.”
Tiger CEO Steve Gill is excited by the news.
“It’s a huge relief to hear the application is not being called in,” said Gill.
“We are now in a great position to deliver the Five Towns Park project to our local community. There are a lot of excited people in Cas at the moment, but we still have a lot of work to do before we start the groundwork. Be patient Cas fans and thank you so much for all for your support.”
