Former Wakefield half-back Tim Smith has joined the Wildcats for the rest of the season on a loan deal from new club Salford Red Devils.
The Australian, who was one of Super League’s top performers in 2013 with the West Yorkshire club, is yet to forge a successful partnership with Rangi Chase after signing for the Red Devils before the start of the season.
Salford boss Iestyn Harris said: “Tim is obviously a quality half-back but unfortunately he hasn’t settled into life here as well as everybody hoped.
“We have talked at length with the player and his agent and see his immediate future elsewhere. He returns to the Wildcats with our very best wishes and we thank him for his efforts this season to date.”
