Former Leigh and Oxford head coach Tony Benson has been appointed Belgium Rugby League’s newly-created Sport Director.
His duties will start in 2015 with Benson’s main targets to build a Rugby League culture in the country at youth level and set up an elite program in order to for the national side to enter European Championship C in 2016.
“The appointment of Tony Benson brings us a wealth of experience forged at the highest level of the game,” said Belgium Rugby League chairman Yves-Michael Kazadi.
“His knowledge and proven ability to bring the very best out of his players makes him an ideal fit for Belgium Rugby League.”
