Toronto chase Super League versatile playmaker

London Broncos face a fight to keep James Cunningham after Toronto emerged as a potential destination for the hooker.

Reports have linked the former England Knights player with Hull Kingston Rovers, but it’s believed the Wolfpack are also interested in recruiting the 25-year-old.

Toronto boast the talent of Championship Player of the Year nominee Andy Ackers, another former Bronco, but will lose their other hooker Bob Beswick at the end of the season to Newcastle Thunder.

That has left Toronto in need of a replacement. While they do have one spare quota spot with Ashton Sims retiring, it’s thought they are keen to use the space elsewhere in their squad.

The Robins are also in need of options in their pivots after several departures, but are thought to be in discussions with several halfbacks ahead of 2020.

Cunningham’s ability to play both halfback and hooker is an added boost, with the 25-year-old enhancing his repertoire during his time in the capital.
