Trent Merrin returns home on compassionate leave

Leeds Rhinos’ marquee signing Trent Merrin has returned home to Australia on compassionate leave following a family bereavement.

Merrin has played every game so far this season after signing a four-year marquee deal with Leeds Rhinos in the off season.

Rhinos CEO Gary Hetherington expects Merrin to return at the end of the week but speculation down under is rife with some news outlets running that the forward is expected to sign with the Dragons who are without Origin forward Jack de Belin until his trial date under the “no-fault stand-down” policy.
