Triple injury blow for Batley

Batley Bulldogs have lost backrower Sam Scott for up to six months after he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in the opening-day win over Leigh.

Brad Day also suffered concussion in the same game and James Davey is out for two to four weeks with a grade one hamstring tear.

Coach John Kear said: “All three are blows. Sam Scott had been in excellent form in the pre-season trials, and for the first 20-25 minutes against Leigh he was very threatening with the ball and very aggressive in defence, which is everything you’d want from a second rower.

“James Davey only played about twelve minutes and is really disappointed, and Brad Day has established himself as a top quality Championship player, so it’s a blow to miss him for a week or so.”
