Triple injury boost for Leeds

Brian McDermott has confirmed that the Rhinos are close to welcoming back Brett Ferres Danny McGuire and Stevie Ward.

All three have been ruled out of the clash with Wigan at the weekend, but Ferres and McGuire are closing in on a return while Stevie Ward has started training with the team.

“Brett Ferres is very close,” McDermott said. But he’s been carrying a lot of knocks for the last few weeks, so it’s probably the wise choice. Mags could feature next week, but he might be a doubt. There’s nothing long-term with Magsy and it isn’t a long-term concern, but he won’t feature.

“Stevie Ward ran with the team yesterday. It’s hard to put a figure on it, but we’ll say four weeks for now, but because he’s actual return to play date was this weekend, but he’s has some complications and it hasn’t been an easy injury to get through for Wardy. He’s had a journey in himself with this injury. He’s done a great job and he’s in a great place. He trained with us yesterday and ran about with the fellas. Still got about another month to all tighten up and heal up. “
