Unbeaten year unrealistic, says Rowley

Leigh Centurions coach Paul Rowley has dismissed any notion that his side could go through the regular 2016 season undefeated.

Speaking to the Leigh Observer, the club’s owner Derek Beaumont suggested that the Centurions could better their record of losing just one league match for the last two seasons.

But Rowley is expecting the standard in the competition to be much tougher this time around.

Rowley said: “I don’t think you’ll see a record like we’ve had for the next 20 years, never mind this season.

“I think that would be disrespectful to our opposition.

“Every club gets in its own bubble, but it’s a coach’s job to look outside that, and the players here know full well the quality of the other teams in the Championship.

“We’re fully aware of the calibre and quality that is outside the bubble of Leigh and there are some big challenges out there this season.”
