Wakefield confirm Collis departure

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have confirmed that centre Dean Collis has left the club to return to Australia.

The 29-year-old joined the Wildcats in September 2011 from National Rugby League side Cronulla Sharks.

The Australian made 63 Super League appearances for Wakefield, scoring 12 tries for the Wildcats.

His last appearance for the division’s bottom club came in the 56-16 derby defeat by Castleford Tigers at Magic Weekend in Newcastle last month.

Wakefield Chairman Michael Carter stated: “Dean expressed a desire to return home for family reasons. I was sorry to let Dean go and I wish him and his family all the best in the future.”

The departure of Collis may not be the only one this week, as it is understood that another member of the Wakefield squad, Jarrod Sammut, is in negotiations about an exit too.
