Wakefield confirm departure of Australian international

Anthony Tupou has left Wakefield Trinity by mutual consent.

The Australia international has departed the Super League club after just one year at Trinity, having joined the club from Cronulla Sharks.

He made 23 appearances for the club last year, scoring four tries, but has decided to continue his career elsewhere after suffering with homesickness. Wakefield granted him an immediate exit, despite being under contract at the club for 2017.

Chairman, Michael Carter said, “Unfortunately things did not work out as well as we all had hoped, Anthony and his family were suffering a lot with homesickness. We wish Anthony and his family the very best in the future.”
