Ashley Gibson has put pen to paper to sign a two-year deal at Super League side Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
The 29 year old has joined the Wildcats from Super League rivals Castleford Tigers, where he made 28 appearances, scoring 11 tries since joining in 2014.
Gibson has a wealth of Super League experience after playing for Salford Red Devils between 2010-13, as well as Leeds Rhinos. He started his professional playing career for Leeds when he broke into the side in 2005, scoring a hat-trick on his debut against Leigh.
He joins Wakefield and Brian Smith’s squad for 2016 just 48 hours after his teammate Liam Finn also joined the Wildcats earlier this week. Gibson is primarily a centre but can also play on the wing.
Gibson spoke about his move, saying: “I’m really excited to be joining the club, it is a new era here at Wakefield with head coach Brian Smith, he has a wealth of experience and I am looking forward to working alongside him.
“I cannot wait to get started in pre season; Michael (Carter) has brought in some fantastic players so far to add to the great bunch of lads that are already here.”
