Wakefield make seven changes as Locke left out

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats coach Brian Smith has made seven changes to the 19-man squad that will Hull FC on Sunday – with Kevin Locke the headline omission.

Locke is still working his way back to full fitness after joining the club last week, and after an impressive debut against Hull, he is left out for this Sunday.

Dan Smith, Ali Lauitiiti and Matty Ashurst have all returned from injury and have come straight into the squad for Sunday, whilst Chris Riley has also been named after missing out on selection against Hull FC on Wednesday night; he has also been joined by Tom Johnstone, Jordan Crowther and Max Jowitt.

Tim Smith – who was forced to pull out of the squad last minute with injury on Wednesday – will miss the fixture on Sunday, whilst Danny Washbrook also misses out after suffering concussion on Wednesday – and they both join Danny Kirmond and Scott Anderson on the injury list.

Smith said: “We need a performance out there on the field on Sunday like the one in the second half on Wednesday night, the boys worked extremely hard to get that win.

“I am fortunate enough that I have been able to switch the squad around a little bit after Wednesday night. Bringing in the new signings has enabled us to change things around to try new ideas to improve our performances.”

Wakefield squad to face Hull FC: Annakin, Arundel, Ashurst, Crowther, Godinet, Howarth, Johnstone, Jowitt, Kavanagh, Lauitiiti, McShane, Miller, Owen, Riley, Simon, Sio, Smith, Tansey, Walker.
