WAKEFIELD TRINITY say they have paid “a substantial transfer fee” to sign centre Davy Litten from Hull FC.
Litten will join next season on a four-year contract after being prised from the two remaining seasons on an existing deal with his hometown club.
The 23-year-old has established himself as a centre over the past two years, after previously featuring as either a fullback or winger.
He made a real breakthrough last season, scoring eight tries in 23 games, and has backed that up with 13 tries in 19 matches for a struggling Hull side this year.
Litten replaces another former Black and White, the Bradford Bulls-bound Cameron Scott, in a Wakefield back division which will include England winger Tom Johnstone, incoming New Zealand cross-code star Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, plus youngsters Oliver Pratt, Corey Hall and Jayden Myers.
They made an approach for St Helens’ emerging star Harry Robertson earlier this year before turning their attention elsewhere.
Under owner Matt Ellis, Trinity are making a real push for major silverware, and Litten said: “I’m grateful to be signing for such a great club.
“The opportunity is something which really excites me and I can’t wait to get started in 2027.
“As a player you can see where the club is going on and off the field and it really impresses me.”
Wakefield coach Daryl Powell, who has also signed loose-forward Cameron Smith, prop Emre Guler and hooker Mason Teague, said: “Davy will become part of one of the youngest and most exciting backlines in the competition.
“He is young and driven, and I love his physicality and will to win.”
The loss of a successful academy graduate leaves a hole in Hull FC’s future plans, especially after losing out on Catalans Dragons centre Solomona Faataape, who has instead joined St Helens.
While Zak Hardaker has re-signed for 2027, fellow veteran Tom Briscoe is out of contract.
Arthur Romano has another year remaining on his deal, as does Ed Chamberlain, who spent this season on loan to Bradford.
