WALES wheelchair player Scott Trigg-Turner has been banned from classrooms for two years after telling pupils he had killed people as a military sniper.
Trigg-Turner made false claims to a year eight class while working as a learning support assistant at Bassaleg School in Newport.
The 30-cap Welsh international has been struck off the Education Workforce Council register following a teaching standards hearing.
Trigg-Turner worked at Bassaleg School from January 2023 and resigned in June 2024 following an internal investigation.
The professional standards panel found that he told pupils he had a gun at home, had killed people, and had the military code name ‘Kill Switch’.
He was also found to have told conflicting stories to colleagues about how he came to be a wheelchair user, shown favouritism to a pupil and on one occasion sat too close to a pupil.
Trigg-Turner did not appear at the hearing but earlier told the school investigation that his stories to pupils had been “misinterpreted”.
The panel concluded that the allegations proven showed he had lacked integrity and honesty, and amounted to unacceptable professional conduct.
An international since 2013, Trigg-Turner has played at two World Cups for Wales.
He featured last season for both Wigan Warriors in the Wheelchair Super League and Torfaen Tigers in the Welsh Invitational League.
