Walton joins Wakefield

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have completed the signing of Jason Walton from Salford on a one-year deal.

The transfer, that was reported in League Express several weeks ago, was confirmed Sunday night.

Walton who is primarily a centre started his professional career at Salford Red Devils in 2009 before making the move to Batley Bulldogs, where he spent four years and made 105 appearances. He rejoined Salford in 2014 before making a move to Championship side London Broncos.

He will join up with the rest of the squad on Monday morning for pre-season training.

“I am very excited to have signed,” said Walton.

“It’s a great opportunity. I am looking forward to working with Brian Smith, he is a fantastic coach and I cannot wait to continue to grow as a player and learn from him.”

Brian Smith added: “Jason has immediately impressed everyone at the Wildcats with his enthusiasm. His rugby talents and strong physical attributes suggest that Jason will make a real contribution in this big opportunity for him.”
