Wane: Sam persuaded me to sign Sarginson

He was perhaps one of the biggest revelations of the 2014 Super League season, and Wigan Warriors boss Shaun Wane has admitted that the persuasion of Sam Tomkins convinced him to make the move for Dan Sarginson.

Sarginson arrived from London Broncos at the start of 2014, and finished the season as a regular in the Warriors side – as well as a full England international after an incredible season for the club.

And Wane told the Manchester Evening News that it was Tomkins’ rave reviews of Sarginson that helped him make the move for the centre.

‘‘Sam said Sarge was a handful,” Wane said.

‘‘We had watched him for a while and been impressed with him.

‘‘He is another player who has worked very hard.’’

Sarginson is expected to feature for the Warriors this weekend, as they look to continue their unbeaten start to the season against winless Hull Kingston Rovers.
