Warrington Wolves coach Tony Smith has confirmed that he is set to carry on with rookie fullback Jack Johnson in the team for this Sunday’s trip to Huddersfield.
Johnson caught the eye during his senior debut, playing a key role as the Wolves thumped Hull FC at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in the Super 8s.
And with their top four hopes now gone, Smith has confirmed that Johnson will continue at the back, after admitting he sees no reason to drop the youngster following an encouraging debut for the first team against the Black and Whites.
“We picked up no further injuries which was great,” said Smith.
“The only addition this week will be Ashton returning from suspension – somebody will make way for him out of the 19. Jack (Johnson) will be in the squad and playing fullback. We were pleased with his performance last week so I can’t see any reason why he won’t be in there again.
“We haven’t got anyone returning from injury at this stage but the no further injuries we’ll take!”
