Warrington Wolves have confirmed the signing of teenage hooker Danny Walker on a three-year deal.
The 19-year-old has signed for his hometown club after the Wolves won the race to sign the highly-rated youngster following Widnes’ relegation from Super League.
Walker made an impression during his time with the Vikings and signed a four-year deal with the club last year.
However, he has now made the move to the Wolves, the club he supported as a youngster.
“I’ve supported Warrington all of my life and my family has too,” he said.
“I used to stand on the terraces so it means the world to me to have signed. I can’t wait to get started and play with all the boys as there’s some exceptional talent.
“I’ve always kept an eye on Warrington and secretly had a little cheer if they got the win; unless it was against my former team of course.
“I can’t wait for it to happen, to actually pull on the primrose and blue and get out there to show what I’ve got. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do I just didn’t expect it to come as soon as it has.
“I hope to bring a little bit of speed, quicken things up off the back of some big fellas. I know Daz Clark does a good job of it at the minute but hopefully I can bring something a bit different; a bit of aggression for a small lad. I just can’t wait to see what it brings.”
Steve Price added “I heard good things from all my coaching staff who have a very high opinion of Danny having come through our local system. From that I took a strong interest in him and I see a lot of improvement in him as he’s only young. I’ve watched him in a number of Widnes games throughout the season. He’s got a lot speed and is quite creative and tough. I’m excited to get him to our club and for the future. There’s a lot more to come from him.”
